Tropical Far North Queensland has so much to offer! The natural environment is spectacular and the range of high quality tours and self guided interpretative facilities is dizzying. The cultural diversity and interpretation is outstanding. As well as the famous tours and places, there are many more out-of-the-way experiences to be enjoyed for the more intrepid traveler.
Our guest welcome pack details our favorite tours and sights in Edge Hill, Cairns, Port Douglas, Cooktown, the Great Barrier Reef, the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area including the Daintree River & Rainforest, and the Atherton Tablelands. It also includes a binder full of interesting information you're not likely to find in any booking office. Our library, in your lounge room, has historical as well as extensive reference information. It also hosts information on out-of the-way places for the free and independent traveler. For the naturalist or eco tourist we have the information and contacts to set you in the right direction (you can find more than 20 species of birds in our garden alone).
We have traveled extensively in the region ourselves, with and without children, and can advise you, depending on your particular interests. Once you have made up your mind, we can take care of all of your bookings, arrange convenient pick-up and drop-offs and fine tune any special requirements you may have. Most of the tours have courtesy buses that will pick you up either at our front door or in Edge Hill (2 minutes walk). Frequent feedback from our guests ensures that we pass on only the most up-to-date information.
We can set you up for day trips with eskies (coolers), beach towels, mats, hats, bird books, and almost anything else you can think of.
Car hire can be pre-arranged or done on an ad hoc day-to-day basis. Cairns is well supplied and rarely runs short.

The hosts Jesse and Julie and family were very welcoming. The house is the bottom level of the hosts' house and is extremely clean and comfortable. Julie provided a fantastic assortment of tea/ coffee/ hot chocolate, cereals, spreads, raisin bread, muffins and fruit platter for breakfast every day. There were also other useful items in the kitchen (oil, glad wrap etc) that made preparation of our own meals a lot easier. It was also great having access to a washer and dryer, BBQ as well as clean towels, esky and an umbrella. For our final night in Cairns, we stayed in a hotel and it made us appreciate the space and facilities we had at Galvin's Edge even more! We are happy to highly recommend this place for a comfortable and relaxing stay in Cairns.
What a great place to stay! The accommodation was just beautiful and the location was very handy to the village of Edge Hill, with plenty of eating options and a supermarket etc within walking distance. The beautiful Botanic Gardens were also an easy walk away. Julie & Jesse were very friendly and made us very welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our tropical fruit platter with breakfast every morning overlooking the lush tropical gardens & pool. We also really appreciated Julie’s recommendations on restaurants, places to see, and things to do. She even made restaurant reservations for us on the first night & also booked our reef cruise. We could not have been happier! Thank you so much
